When Tesla first rolled out the Model S, it put a
sort of grille on it. It didn’t need one, really – we guess Elon Musk and
company just figured it looked more like a car people would want to actually
buy that way. But in 2016, it blanked out that grille, giving the Model S a
more unusual-looking nose.
So what’s an owner of a 2012-16 Tesla Model S to do
if he wants their older EV to look like the new one? Turn to T
Sportline. The Tesla tuner has come out with an aftermarket facelift kit for
older Model S sedans to make them look more like the newer ones. T Sportline
says its kit is built to the same standards as Tesla’s own, made from “OEM
grade polyurethane using steel injection mold in a CAPA certified facility.”
It also uses the existing factory hardware,
including the fog lights, factory hood emblem, and all the relevant sensors for
the Autopilot and parking systems. It even has a V-shaped chrome accent trim
piece to better match the newer models. The kit still requires professional
prep, paint, and installation. But that’s something that most any capable body
shop should be able to handle.
The company will also gladly upgrade the interior,
tint the windows, paint the brake calipers, swap the wheels, lower the
suspension, even wrap the entire vehicle to the customer’s taste. And if you
like the face on the older v1.0 Model S and want to keep it, T Sportline also
offers a grille upgrade to make it look even more like a conventional
automobile’s.
