The 2018 Maruti Ertiga is headed to either the NEXA
or Arena showrooms this year. MSIL has been carrying out extensive testing of
the second generation model, which has resulted in a steady stream of spy
shots. Here are new ones shared by MotorOctane.
The media reveals that the cabin of the 2018 Maruti
Ertiga will be given the beige treatment. The roof lining and the seat
upholstery is finished in beige. Previous spy shots have revealed a black-beige
dashboard theme and faux wood inserts in the door panels. It will get a 7-inch
touchscreen for the Smartplay infotainment system and automatic climate
control.
One of the images reveals the presence of a 6-speed
manual transmission in this test mule of the 2018 Maruti Ertiga. This could
indicate that the variant we see here is the Ertiga diesel with the new 1.5 L
engine. It will replace the current 1.3 L DDiS 200 diesel engine that will not
continue to be in service beyond 2020 following the arrival of BSVI emissions
regulations.
This engine is touted to power the Maruti Ciaz as
well. However, according to a report from June, the new 1.5 L diesel engine
developed by Suzuki will not arrive until 2019. The new Ertiga may continue
with the current 1.3 L diesel and switch to the new 1. 5 L diesel in 2019.
The 2018 Maruti Ertiga petrol will employ a new 1.5
L K15B engine replacing the current 1.4 L K14B motor. This engine powers the
2018 Suzuki Ertiga and the new Suzuki Jimny. In case of the Indonesian-spec
Ertiga, the engine develops 104.7 PS and 138 Nm. Expect similar power and
torque figures for the India-spec model. Maruti will offer the Ertiga petrol
with 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic transmission choices.
The launch of the new Maruti Ertiga is reportedly
this August. Prices of the MPV could witness an increment thanks to new engines
and features. The current vehicle will be retained in the market as the Maruti
Ertiga Tour for the taxi market.
