If you want to indulge your inner Valentino Rossi or
Maverick Vinales, Hong Leong Yamaha Malaysia has released the 2018 Yamaha Y15ZR
GP Edition, priced at RM 8,588, excluding GST, insurance, road tax and
registration. Decked out in Movistar Yamaha MotoGP colours, the Y15ZR GP
Edition also comes with limited edition items – a scale model of the bike and
fitness wristband – available only with the purchase of this specific supercub.
The Y15ZR produces a claimed 15.1 hp at 8,500 rpm,
and torque is rated at 13.8 Nm at 7,000 rpm from its 150 cc four-valve,
four-stroke, liquid-cooled single cylinder engine. Fed by EFI, the Y15ZR gets
power to the ground with a wet multi-plate clutch five-speed gearbox and chain
final drive.
Braking is done with single discs mounted on
five-spoke 17-inch alloy wheels, clamped by single-piston callipers, front and
rear. Suspension on the Y15ZR GP Edition uses a conventional telescopic fork in
front and preload-adjustable monoshock at the back.
Weighing in at 115 kg, the Y15ZR carries fuel in a
4.2-litre tank and seat height is set at 780 mm. A large analogue speedometer
on the left shows speed and the LCD display on the right contains the odometer
and fuel gauge.
Local competition for the 2018 Yamaha Y15ZR GP
Edition includes the Honda RS150R, priced at RM 7,998, with the base edition of
the Y15ZR priced at RM 7,888. The Y15ZR GP Edition will be in authorised Hong
Leong Yamaha dealer showrooms from the middle of July, 2018.
