Dodge unveiled the 2019 Challenger
lineup yesterday and now the company has revealed the Hellcat Redeye will cost US$ 69,650. Priced US$ 15,345 less than the Challenger SRT Demon, the Hellcat Redeye
features a number of the same high-performance modifications. In particular,
the car’s 6.2-liter V8 engine has a 2.7-liter supercharger, an upgraded fuel
injection system and strengthened pistons. These changes enable the mill to
produce 797 hp and 957 Nm of torque.
The Hellcat Redeye is offered
exclusively with an eight-speed automatic transmission and it enables the coupe
to accelerate from 0-96 km/h in 3.4 seconds before hitting a top
speed of 326 km/h. Dodge also claims the model is the “fastest grand
touring production car” as it can run the quarter mile in 10.8 seconds at 210 km/h.
While the Redeye is the star of the
show, the standard Challenger SRT Hellcat just become a lot more affordable.
Dodge cut the price by over US$ 5,000 and the Hellcat now starts at US$ 58,650.
Despite the price cut, the car has an upgraded engine that produces 717 hp and 888 Nm of torque.
Now that the fun stuff is out of the
way, let’s start at the beginning. The entry-level Challenger SXT RWD is priced
from US$ 27,295 and it features a 3.6-liter V6 engine with 305 hp and 363 Nm of torque. The car can also be equipped with
all-wheel drive for an additional US$ 3,000.
For 2019, there’s a new Challenger GT
RWD which costs US$ 29,995. The model comes standard with a Super Track Pak which
includes a performance suspension, a sportier hood and a front splitter. The
package also adds cloth Houndstooth seats, steering wheel mounted paddle
shifters (on automatic models) and 20-inch Granite Crystal painted wheels. The
GT is powered by the aforementioned V6 engine and all-wheel drive is optional.
The cheapest way to get behind the wheel
of a V8-powered model is by ordering a Challenger R/T which starts at US$ 34,100.
It has a 5.7-liter HEMI producing up to 375 hp and 555 Nm of torque.
Buyers who have Hellcat dreams and R/T
budgets will want to check out the Challenger R/T Scat Pack. Pricing starts at US$ 38,995 but opting for the manual transmission results in a US$ 1,000 gas guzzler
tax. That’s unfortunate, but the model has a 6.4-liter V8 pumping out 485 hp and 643 Nm of torque.
The 2019 Dodge Challenger lineup will
arrive at dealerships late this year and you can read more about the changes
