Honda is launching significantly
upgraded versions of its 8-passenger Pilot SUV and subcompact HR-V crossover,
boasting new looks, improved powertrains and better onboard technology. Both
cars will go on sale at Honda dealerships on July 16 (Pilot) and July 24
(HR-V), with new Display Audio systems that feature a physical volume knob,
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, plus an expanded application of
Honda Sensing.
On the safety front, Honda Sensing will
now be standard on all Pilot models, and on EX and higher grades of the HR-V.
The Japanese automaker is aiming to integrate Honda Sensing into all vehicles
sold in the U.S. by 2022.
Honda’s sporty subcompact crossover now
welcomes new Sport and Touring trims, upgraded styling, better connectivity but
also an improved CVT and all-wheel drive system, variable-ratio electric power
steering and additional sound deadening.
As previously stated, the 2019 HR-V is
available with Honda Sensing for the first time, standard on EX and higher
trims. This bundle of safety systems includes Collision Mitigation, Road
Departure Mitigation, Lane Keeping Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control.
As for the Pilot, it now comes with a
more aggressive exterior styling, a new hands-free power tailgate and a more
refined 9-spede automatic (available on Touring and Elite trims).
Other tech upgrades include 4G LTE
in-car Wi-Fi, a larger Rear Entertainment System with Blu-Ray and streaming
video capability, CabinTalk in-car PA system, CabinControl, a new Display Audio
touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, over-the-air updates and a
volume knob.
Full details on both models will be
available when they go on sale next month.
