Carscoops spies located a camouflaged test car of the ‘normal’ Lexus RC coupe being
driven on public roads. Lexus has decided to replace the controversial headlights of the
original RC with newly designed units that appear to be more conventionally
shaped than before. We don’t know if the separate Nike-logo daytime running
lights will remain but we’re guessing that no one is going to miss them if
they’re ditched.
The rear end is also getting a refresh, with the
taillights to receive a new lighting signature and a new bumper design. The
design changes are expected to be heavily influenced by the the bigger LC
Coupe. The cabin will probably receive a range of new trim and color
options, as well as an updated infotainment system with more connectivity
options. Lexus will also add its latest driver assistance systems.
We still don’t know if Lexus plans any major changes
in the engine range; base versions of the current model are offered with a turbocharged
241 hp 2.0-liter four-cylinder, while more expensive versions are powered by a
3.5-liter V6. Lexus also offers a hybrid 300h model that combines a 2.5-liter
with an electric motor for a combined 220 hp.
The facelifted 2019 Lexus RC could debut as soon as
the upcoming Paris Motor Show but if you don’t see it there, then chances are
that the updated Japanese coupe will be revealed towards the end of the year.
