Alfa Romeo’s beautiful 33 Stradale has been
re-imagined as a modern-day sports thanks to independent designer Patrick
Pieplow. The 33 Stradale, built for just 18 months in the late 1960s, is one
of the most gorgeous cars ever created and redesigned for the 21st century, it
arguably looks even better.
The most obvious design commonality between
Pieplow’s recreation and the original are the oversized headlights which
dominate the front fascia. The lights feature racing-inspired yellow tint and
sit directly above a pair of small air intakes. Despite the slim profile of the
nose, Alfa Romeo’s customary triangle grille is featured.
The side profile of the car differs dramatically
from the original as it is dominated by straight lines and aggressive angles
whereas the 33 Stradale came from a time when curves were in fashion. One
particularly important design aspect of the 33 Stradale has been retained
however, the glass roof. Not only does it look cool, but a glass roof makes a
vehicle’s interior feel infinitely more airy and welcoming.
Move to the rear and you’ll notice an intriguing
pair of taillights that are connected by a thin, horizontal brake light.
Elsewhere, a spoiler has been seamlessly incorporated into the rear wheel arches
while a large diffuser caps of the car’s aggressive yet sexy design.
At the start of June, Alfa Romeo confirmed that it
was developing a new supercar dubbed the 8C Coupe. The Italian marque says it
will be modeled after race cars from the 1920s and 1930s and adopt a mid-engine
layout. If it looks as good as this 33 Stradale recreation, Alfa could have a
winner on its hands.
