The Ford Everest facelift, first unveiled in May,
has been introduced in Thailand. The Ranger-based SUV
receives minor exterior styling revisions and additional features as part of
its mid-cycle interval refresh.
There are also changes to the powertrain and running
gear, with the introduction of the new 2.0 litre EcoBlue diesel – which made
its debut on the Ranger Raptor – and Getrag 10R60 10-speed automatic gearbox on
the facelift. The Bangkok Post reports that the new Panther mill replaces the
previous 2.2 litre four-cylinder and 3.2 litre five-cylinder Puma line-up.
The new oil burner is available in two output states
of tune, offering 180 hp in single-turbo form and 213 hp in its twin-turbo guise,
with 180 hp versions getting rear-wheel drive and the 213 hp tune, four-wheel
drive.
Four variants will be available in Thailand, three
of which will feature the lower output tune. Prices start from 1.299 million
baht for the entry-level model to 1.599 million baht for the highest of the three 180 hp variants, and the range-topping twin-turbo
will go for 1.799 million baht.
New exterior items include a larger three-slat
grille and xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights, and inside, the
Everest now comes with keyless entry and push-button start as well as a SYNC 3
infotainment system as standard, with voice control in English or Thai for that
market.
The refresh adds on inter-urban autonomous emergency
braking (AEB) with pedestrian and vehicle detection, which operates from speeds
above 3.6 km/h – this joins the existing adaptive cruise control (ACC), lane
keeping system (LKS) and blind spot information system (BLIS) with rear
cross-traffic alert on the safety kit list.
