Since the launch of
its third generation in 2015, the Tucson has been Hyundai’s best-selling
vehicle in Europe. Now, the facelifted version is getting ready to go on sale
in the UK. Offered in several trim levels with a starting price of £ 21,845
(US$ 28,960), the 2019 Hyundai Tucson is more affordable than two rivals, the SEAT Ateca and Skoda Karoq.
Standard gear
includes the 16-inch alloy wheels, front fog lamps, side mirror with integrated
turn signals, automatic headlights, climate control, 7-inch infotainment system
with DAB radio, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, reversing camera, Bluetooth and
others.
Next comes the
Tucson SE Nav, from £ 23,345 (US$ 30,949). Just like the entry-level model, it gets
a six-speed manual gearbox and front-wheel drive, though it adds several items,
such as the 17-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, privacy glass, and LED
taillights. This flavor of the compact crossover also gets automatic windscreen
wipers, auto dimming rear mirror, 8-inch infotainment system, navigation, and
cruise control.
Bringing even more
additional equipment is the Tucson Premium, with new 18-inch alloy wheels,
keyless entry and go, electronic parking brake, wireless charging pad, premium
audio system and other features carried over from the previous model, such as
the leather upholstery, electrically adjustable and heated front seats, Blind
Spot Detection and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. The Premium grade starts at
£ 25,845 (US$ 34,263).
The Hyundai Tucson
Premium SE is the range-topping model and can be had from £ 29,745 (US$ 39,433). It
adds bi-LED headlights, around view monitor, adaptive smart cruise control,
panoramic glass sunroof, electric tailgate, heated steering wheel and
ventilated front seats.
Depending on the
specified model, customers can choose between several powertrains for the
Euro-spec Hyundai Tucson, including the new 1.6-liter CRDi diesels, with 115 PS and 136 PS, or the 1.6-liter GDi and T-GDi petrol
units.
An additional
option for the Premium trim level is the 2.0-liter CRDi, with its 48v mild
hybrid system, rated at 185 PS and offered with four-wheel drive
and an eight-speed automatic transmission. The updated Tucson will go on sale
in the UK on July 26.
