Chakan-based Reddy Customs released images of a
modified Mahindra Thar. Called "Black Hawk", the custom job features
extensive exterior and interior modifications. Up front, the Mahindra Thar Black
Hawk gets a custom-made grille and bumper. The grille features a mesh with
vertical fins finished in red placed behind it. This red and black theme
extends on to the bonnet and the rest of the bodywork.
Aftermarket additions also include projector
headlamps with circular LED DRLs, front tow hooks finished in red, LED turn
signals, roof-mounted LED auxiliary lights, a snorkel, and LED tail lamps. The
custom Mahindra Thar rides on Maxxis Bravo all-terrain tires wrapped around
5-spoke alloy wheels in black with red highlights.
The custom job replaces the stock Thar's soft top
with an FRP hardtop. The rear windows have grown in size as well. Inside, the
rear jump seats have bee removed to free up space for cargo. The roof gets a
Y-shape light, and a black with red highlights sheet covers the floor. There
are no performance-oriented changes.
According to Cartoq, the total cost of the
modification is INR 4.99 lakhs. The job takes 21 days to finish, and all parts
are available individually making replacement easy if needed. The stock
Mahindra Thar CRDe is priced at INR 9.25 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi).
The Mahindra Thar employs a NEF TCI- CRDe 2,498 cc
diesel engine or an M2DICR 2,523 cc diesel engine. The former puts out 105 bhp
and 247 Nm pairing with a 5-speed manual transmission routing power to all four
wheels, if required, via BorgWarner (Manual Shift) with High & Low
Reduction Gear. The other engine model makes 63 bhp and 195 Nm and gets 4x4 as
an option. The Thar DI, with the 2.523 cc diesel, is priced at INR 6.48 lakhs
(2WD) and INR 7.00 lakhs (4WD) ex-showroom Delhi.
