Mahindra is preparing a fresh assault on the compact
SUV market with the SsangYong Tivoli based Mahindra S201. The spy pictures reveal the presence of wraparound
headlamps with sharp edges. Their internal structure features black bezels
surrounding projector units for low-beam and conventional reflector units for
high-beam. Information shared in the same thread makes mention of LED DRLs that
extend all the way down to the bumper.
As observed on multiple occasions now, the rear end
features LED tail lamps with a distinct LED signature. The number plate recess
complements the lower profile of the tail lamp cluster. The Mahindra
S201 test mule can be seen sporting roof rails, 10-spoke alloy wheels, and a
roof spoiler with integrated auxiliary stop lamp.
The interior of the Mahindra S201 borrows heavily
from the SsangYong Tivoli. It gets the same centre console, central AC vents,
steering wheel, and instrument panel. However, the steering wheel design of the
final production-spec S201 may be different.
The Mahindra S201 will feature, at
least in its top-end grade, leather seats, push-button engine start/keyless
entry, sunroof, and seven airbags (including knee, side & curtain airbags).
Mahindra will deploy 1.2 L turbo petrol and 1.5 L
diesel engines. The former will reportedly have a power output of around 140
hp, which will make it the most powerful car in its segment by some margin.
