Despite exotic carmakers such as Ferrari,
Lamborghini, Bugatti, Koenigsegg, McLaren and others crowding the segment,
there’s always room for new entries when it comes to ultra fast cars. Thus, there are already a few new
startups looking to grab a chunk of the market, such as Bulgaria’s Alieno and,
more recently, India’s Vazirani.
Founded by a California Art Center graduate with
design experience at Rolls-Royce and Jaguar Land Rover, Chunky Vazirani, the
company will present its first ever project, called the Shul (pronounced
‘Shool’), at the 2018 Goodwood Festival of Speed this week, reports OverDrive.
Said to have been designed by none other than
Kazunori Yamauchi, the man behind the Gran Turismo video game series, the
concept (expected to hit production soon) looks like a very appealing hypercar
at first glance, as per the teaser released on YouTube. The Vazirani Shul has very sharp
lines, aggressively styled panels, large air intakes and lightweight materials
used in its construction, including carbon fiber.
Powering the Indian hypercar are several electric
motors, aided by a compact mini-turbine range extender. Further details about
the powertrain remain scarce at the moment, but in the few words used to describe
it, the startup said that it delivers “a spiritual automotive experience of
restrained power, eternal beauty and quiet eminence”.
Also, the addition of a turbine is said to bring a
‘signature whoosh’, thus making the entire driving experience more engaging.
