Hero MotoCorp seems to have begun the deliveries of the 2018 Hero Karizma ZMR in India, according to these new images. The company recently re-launched the Karizma ZMR in the country, priced from INR 1.08 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) for the standard version.

The 2018 Hero Karizma ZMR is available in two variants, Standard and Dual-tone, with the dual-tone model priced at INR 1,10,500 (ex-showroom, Delhi). We have already reported that dealership-level bookings for the new Karizma ZMR are underway at various company showrooms.

The 2018 Hero Karizma ZMR employs a 223 cc, single-cylinder, four-stroke motor with fuel injection that pairs to a 5-speed gearbox with a final chain drive. The oil cooled engine is tuned to churn out 20 bhp of maximum power at 8,000 rpm while developing 19.7 Nm of peak torque at 6,500 rpm.

The launch of the 2018 Hero Karizma ZMR is surprising as the company had discontinued the motorcycle in India in April 2017, after the introduction of the BSIV emission standards. The latest safety standards mandate all two-wheelers above 125 cc to come equipped with ABS and fuel-injection as standard. While the Karizma ZMR receives fuel injection as standard, Hero isn’t offering ABS even as an option. That said, Hero can sell the Karizma without ABS until April 1, 2019, as the motorcycle isn’t all-new and has been in continuous production.

Hero MotoCorp is reportedly developing the next-generation Hero Karizma, which is expected to launch in 2020 with the introduction of the BS-6 emission norms. That said, the Karizma has received several updates over the course of 15 years since the two-wheeler first launched.

The Hero Karizma ZMR has a claimed top speed of 129 km/h while Anchorage comes from a 276 mm front disc and a 240 mm rear disc brake. Suspension hardware comprises of telescopic forks at the front and 5-step adjustable twin shock-absorbers at the rear. The motorcycle rides on 18-inch alloy wheels that pair with 80-section front and 120-section rear tubeless tires.
