The
seventh-generation Lexus ES has been introduced in India. The Lexus ES 300h
midsize sedan, available for booking since 19 July 2018, is priced at INR
59,13,000 ex-showroom India. The new Lexus ES is built on an all-new Global Architecture
– K (GA-K) platform which Lexus claims delivers a more emotional exterior
design along with a superior driving experience.
The hybrid electric
ES 300h is powered by a 2.5-liter, four-cylinder petrol engine which is
combined with the new, fourth-generation Lexus Hybrid Drive System. It delivers
improved linear acceleration, a combined 160 kW of total power, and mileage of
22.37 km/l.
The luxury sedan
features a lower stance, and its proportions reflect its performance
capabilities, claims Lexus. It gets slim LED headlamps with distinctive L
shaped marker lights which provide the ES 300h a stunning new look.
In keeping with the
Lexus spirit of hospitality, passenger comfort, a trademark of
the classic ES range remains the highlight in the seventh-generation, says
Lexus. The driver’s control panel and display have been pushed closer to the
driver, to bring extra space for the front passenger. Rear passengers now enjoy
an extended legroom made achievable by the longer wheelbase. The car also
receives adjustable and heated semi-aniline seats and the 17 speaker Mark
Levinson Pure Play system.
The Lexus ES 300h
features 10 airbags, Hill Start Assist, Vehicle Stability Control, and
Anti-theft system, with break-in and tilt sensors. The cabin features a 7-inch
LCD instrument panel with a large analogue tachometer, digital speedometer and
an easy-to-read multi-information display.
Further, the sedan
is also equipped with a fully adjustable colour heads-up display that projects
relevant vehicle information onto the windshield. Navigation is presented on
the 12.3-inch Electro Multi-Vision (EMV) full-size display. It also receives a
wireless charger for smartphones.
The Lexus ES 300h
gets a new rack-assist type Electric Power Steering (EPS) system and comes with
Drive Mode Select with 3 modes - Eco, Normal and Sport. The sedan is fitted
with MacPherson struts in front, a trailing arm and a multilink setup in the
back with stabilizer bars at each end. It rides on 18-inch, multi-spoke alloy
wheels and gets 454 litre of cargo space with an auto-open trunk, which also
fits in a full sized spare wheel.
The interiors
feature four colour schemes and three types of trim. Along with Black, Chateau
and Topaz Brown, the ES also introduces a light new Rich Cream interior. The ES
offers two shades of Shimamoku wood trim as well as light-coloured Bamboo, and
nine paint colours for the exterior.
