Expected to debut later this year, probably at the
Paris Auto Show in October, the facelifted Renault Kadjar was spied testing on
the streets of Germany. Compared to the outgoing model, it’s getting the usual reworked front
and rear bumpers, probably an updated grille and what seem to be modified
headlights. It’s quite tricky to see due to the camouflage, but the updated
Kadjar seems to be getting a redesigned rear end with new taillights and
tailgate as well.
Renault’s designers have prepped a few changes in
the cockpit, too, although it’s possible you won’t notice them unless you’re
familiar with the compact SUV. In any casse, there’s a larger infotainment
display and redesigned climate control buttons, revised
trim options notwithstanding.
Development is well underway, but there’s still no
word on the revamped SUV’s engine range. Nonetheless, the 2019 Kadjar is
expected to be offered with petrol and diesel engines mated to manual or CVT
gearboxes and with front- or all-wheel drive.
The 2019 Renault Kadjar continues to utilize the
Alliance’s CMF platform, just like the second-generation Qashqai, which is
already 5 years old. As for its rivals, besides its Japanese ‘cousin’, the
French compact SUV will go up against the likes of the Peugeot 3008, SEAT
Ateca, Hyundai Tucson and Ford Kuga, to name but a few of its direct rivals.
