According to Bajaj dealerships that IAB spoke to,
the Bajaj Pulsar NS 160 Twin Disc variant is priced at INR 84,602 (ex-showroom,
Navi Mumbai). That said, Bajaj Auto is yet to officially announce the launch of
the Pulsar NS 160 Twin Disc variant.
Dealers claim that deliveries or for that matter
bookings are yet to begin, and the company is expected to launch the motorcycle
very soon in India. On 12 August, we presented a video of the Bajaj Pulsar NS
160 Twin Disc at a dealership. The bike features a 230 mm rear rotor that is
mounted onto 5-spoke alloy wheels borrowed from the Pulsar 150. However, some
models get the regular star-shaped alloy wheels from the standard model.
The motorcycle receives a 240 mm front disc brake; however,
ABS isn’t offered even as an option. The Bajaj Pulsar NS 160 rivals the TVS
Apache RTR 160 4V, Suzuki Gixxer, Yamaha FZ-S, Honda X-Blade and the Honda CB
Hornet 160R. The motorcycle uses a perimeter frame to suspend the engine as a
stressed member, while it comes equipped with telescopic forks and a
gas-charged nitrox mono-shock. The Pulsar NS 160 sits on 17-inch alloy wheels
that run 80-section front and 110-section rear MRF tubeless tires.
The Bajaj Pulsar NS 160 is the only motorcycle in
its class to feature a perimeter frame. It uses a 160.3 cc, single-cylinder,
four-valve, oil-cooled engine with Digital Triple-Spark Ignition system that
comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The engine is tuned to generate 15.5 PS of
maximum power at 8,500 rpm while developing 14.6 Nm of peak torque at 6,500
rpm. The motorcycle has a fuel tank capacity of 12 litres, while the kerb
weight stands at 142 kg.
