Bollinger has tweaked the front fascia of the B1
all-electric SUV before deliveries commence early next year. The best way to describe the B1’s
utilitarian design is to call it a brick on wheels. Consequently, it shouldn’t
surprise anyone that it’s not the most aerodynamically-efficient electric
vehicle out there. Bollinger hopes its minor modifications will make the SUV a
little more friendly to the air it will smash through.
To do so, Bollinger has incorporated a set of air
intakes in the front fascia which also support the headlights and turn signals.
These intakes allow air to pass through the vehicle’s front and out of a pair
of vents on the hood. Not only does the new design result in better efficiency,
it also makes the B1 look a little nicer.
Prior to these changes, Bollinger says the B1
generated more than 400 kg of lift at the front and 350 kg of downforce at the
rear. The subtle facelift helps to equalize these figures but the company has
yet to announce just how improved they are.
The B1 is currently offered with either a 60 kWh or
100 kWh battery pack and offers a range varying between 193
km and 321 km. Additionally, a pair of electric motors result in a combined
360 hp and 640 Nm of torque, enough for a 0-96 km/h time
of 4.5 seconds and a 204 km/h top speed. In November last year, Bollinger
said it had secured more than 10,000 reservations for the B1.
