Mountune has
launched a new power upgrade kit aimed at the current Ford Focus ST diesel
equipped with the six-speed manual gearbox. Priced at £ 429 in the
UK for a DIY installation, or £ 350 to have them fit it to your car
at their headquarters in Brentwood, it includes an OBDII flashing cable,
dongle, performance calibration and, of course, the ‘Mountune’ badge.
The result is 20 PS and 50 Nm of torque more than the stock model, whose
2.0-liter TDCi engine produces 185 PS and 400 Nm of
torque. The 0-96 km/h)acceleration is now completed in 7.4
seconds, 0.7 seconds quicker than the stock car, and top speed is maintained at 217 km/h.
While Mountune
continues to drop upgrades for the current Focus ST, Ford is working on the new
generation. Details about the diesel version are quite scarce at the moment,
but it’s believed to live on, despite the sales decline of oil burners.
As for the petrol
model, it could make use of the turbocharged 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder
that powers the entry-level Mustang, though in the hot hatch it will probably
be detuned to around 250 PS. The new Ford Focus
ST should arrive next year, followed by the next-gen Focus RS in 2020.
