What you’re looking at is the Hongqi HS7. The crossover has been created to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Hongqi brand and was first previewed by a concept that’s shown in the video below at the 2016 Beijing Auto Show.

The image appears to have come from an official Hongqi brochure, and what strikes you about the HS7 immediately is its truly gargantuan front grille that features no less than 15 vertical slates all finished in chrome except for the central one which is painted red and complements a vertical red stripe on the hood. Completing the front end are chrome trimmings at the base, four small fog lamps on either side and small air intakes.

Spy shots snapped by Chinese media in the past reveal that the HS7 will arrive with luxurious leather trimmings, brushed aluminum accents and a multi-function steering wheel. Additionally, there will be a large central infotainment system and decent levels of leg and head room.

Underpinning the Hongqi HS7 should be the same platform as the H7 sedan. Grunt is tipped to be provided by both a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 204 hp and 260 Nm of torque and a 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder producing 231 hp/300 Nm of torque. A six-speed manual transmission will be the only option.
