Hyundai
used the San Diego Comic-Con to introduce the Kona Iron Man Edition. Before you
start wishing Avengers: Infinity War had an alternative ending, Hyundai claims
the compact crossover has a number of special touches to make it worthy of Tony
Stark.
We’re not exactly buying it, but the automaker says
the Kona has custom daytime running lights that “closely resemble the facemask
and eye shape of the Iron Man suit.” The model has also been equipped with a
V-shaped accent on the hood as well as an Iron Man motif which is thankfully
hidden on the roof where no one will see it.
Other touches include Stark Industries decals and
18-inch alloy wheels with an Iron Man mask on the center caps. The crossover
also has a dark chrome grille and an exclusive two-tone paint job. The red accents continue in the
cabin and they are joined by special seats and a unique shifter. Drivers will
also find a special head-up display and a customized infotainment system with
Iron Man graphics.
While it would be easy to dismiss the model as a
weird one-off designed for a comic book convention, Hyundai is actually going
to build the crossover. Production will begin in December and the Kona Iron Man
Edition will be offered globally. Each will be “built-to-order” and that’s
probably a good move as demand will likely be limited.
