Isuzu Malaysia has launched the new D-Max X-Series,
a limited edition model that adds a sportier look and extra kit for the
long-serving pick-up truck, and brings back a name last used on another
limited-run variant from 2013. It is available in 2.5L 4×4 A/T and V-Cross 3.0L
4×4 A/T variants, priced at RM 119,539 and RM 126,338 respectively, on-the-road
without GST or insurance.
Adorning the outside of the D-Max is a rather
aggressive front spoiler, rear skirting and an “aero” sports bar along the bed.
You also get grey and red bonnet and tailgate stripes that are similar to those
on the previous X-Series, as well as a grey grille, red Isuzu badges and
exterior puddle lighting. Colours are limited to Silky Pearl White and Stallion
Black Metallic.
On the inside, the X-Series gets honeycomb quilted
leather seats, special floor mats, red floor lighting, illuminated door sill
plates, a 360-degree camera and a built-in Touch ‘n Go card reader to replace
the driver’s SmartTAG. The rest of the cabin remains unchanged.
So is standard equipment on both models, which
consists of halogen projector headlights with LED daytime running lights, LED
tail lights, grey 18-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry, push-button start,
single-zone automatic climate control, a multifunction steering wheel, reverse
sensors, a DVD navigation system with an eight-inch touchscreen and eight
speakers.
Safety-wise, the D-Max comes as standard with dual
airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, stability control, hill-start assist
and ISOFIX rear child seat anchors. As for engines, the X-Series soldiers on
with the D-Max’s 2.5 litre 4JK1-TCX turbodiesel making 136 PS and 320 Nm of torque,
as well as the larger 3.0 litre 4JJ1-TCX unit producing 177 PS and 380 Nm. Both
engines are mated to a five-speed automatic gearbox.
