According to a report on Autoalive, the New Mitsubishi Pajero Sport will launch in India by April 2019. The SUV will be brought in through the CBU route initially, and bookings are to commence around February 2019, according to the site.

The new Pajero Sport has been a long time coming for India, and Mitsubishi continues to sell the previous generation Pajero Sport. It is a good possibility that before its launch, Mitsubishi could introduce model year changes on the Pajero Sport in Thailand, and the updated version could be launched in India.

The report states that Mitsubishi will have one engine option on the SUV. The right-hand drive Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is available with three engines globally: 4D56 2.5-liter diesel, 4N15 2.4-liter diesel and 6B31 3.0-liter MIVEC petrol. It is the 2.4-liter unit that will power the Indian-spec Pajero Sport. It produces 180 hp at 3,500 rpm and 430 Nm of torque at 2,500 rpm and will be offered with an 8-speed automatic transmission. On the international 4WD model, the drive is sent to all wheels through Mitsubishi's Super Select 4WD-II system. A rear differential lock and limited slip differential are optional on the 4WD variant.

The Pajero Sport will rival the Ford Endeavour, Toyota Fortuner, the Mahindra Rexton and the new Honda CR-V. Expect prices in the INR 30-40 lakh range. The report adds that Mitsubishi will start looking at the local assembly for the recently launched Outlander post the introduction of the Pajero Sport. The Outlander is priced at INR 31.54 lakhs, ex-Showroom, Mumbai for reference.
