Saleen have officially
unveiled an off-road focused derivative. The Sportruck XR is based upon the
F-150, to which it adds 2.5-inch coilover on both axles. Stopping power is
provided by the 13.8-inch vented front discs with 2-piston calipers at the
front and 13.8-inch vented discs with 1-piston calipers at the rear.
Optionally, Saleen
can paint the calipers on your truck, or install either 13.6-inch or 14-inch
slotted front discs with 6-piston calipers at the front.
Currently, there’s
no info concerning the powertrain, but the Sportruck is powered by either a
naturally aspirated engine, or a supercharged version of the same unit that’s
good for more than 700 hp and we guess the same
applies for the XR version, too.
The front and rear
bumpers, grille, sidesteps and tailgate panel are all new, and the truck sports
an LED light bar at the front, Saleen decals on the windscreen and lower part
of the front doors, and 8.5×17-inch rims with chunky off-road rubber on all
four corners.
Inside, the
Sportruck XR has a dash plaque with the model and serialized VIN, embroidered
headrests in full leather or Black Label editions and floor mats, and white
face gauges. For the ultimate
thrill off the beaten path, Saleen’s Sportruck XR can be ordered in the Black
Label variant as well. This version adds Fox shocks with 12 inches of travel at
the front and 14 at the rear, plus leather upholstery in the cabin.
Pricing details
haven’t been announced, but the American tuner says that it’s already taking
orders, with deliveries to commence soon.
