The hype surrounding the Porsche 911 R has started
to fade more than two years after it initially touched down in Geneva. That doesn’t make the sports car
any less exciting, but it does make it more affordable. How much more? That would
be US$ 325,000-US$ 375,000 for the example pictured
here, as per RMSothebys’ estimates.
Okay, that’s not exactly lunch money, but it’s
considerably less than the US$ 600k commandeered by the R just a few months ago. Moreover, it is practically new,
as it as only 48 km on the clock. It was delivered in 2016 to a
Porsche dealer in California, which remains its sole owner to this day, and
it’s one the 296 units destined for the US market, bearing #748 out of the
total 991 Rs built.
Everywhere you look, this 911 R looks like it just
left the factory floor. It sports a black exterior adorned with green stripes
over a black interior with grey details and is equipped with a few optional
extras. The auction house talks about the Sport Chrono package, black LED
headlights with Porsche Dynamic Light System, Bose premium sound system and PCM
with navigation, all of which raised the MSRP to over US$ 216,000.
To bid for this gorgeous 911 R you’ll need to take a
trip to Monterey, California, next weekend, as the car will hit the auction
block on August 24.
The 9qq R is capable of hitting the 100 km/h mark in
3.8 seconds and reaches a top speed of 323 km/h, courtesy of its 500 PS naturally-aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six engine and six-speed manual
transmission.
