Royal Enfield has
launched the Classic 500 Pegasus Edition in Australia, priced at AUD 9,890
(ride away price). The Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus comes with 24 months
warranty and 24 months customer care program.
The Royal Enfield
Classic 500 Pegasus is limited to 50 units for the Australian market. It sold
out within three minutes in India when it went on sale on 25 July 2018. The
Pegasus Edition is limited to 1,000 units globally, with 250 units allocated to
India, 190 units to the UK, 50 units to Australia and the rest are for other
global markets.
The Royal Enfield
Classic 500 Pegasus Edition pays homage to the Royal Enfield RE/WD 125 ‘Flying
Flea,’ used in World War II. Globally, the Classic 500 Pegasus is available in
two colour options - Olive Drab Green and Service Brown. It features
military-style canvas saddle bags with Pegasus Logo, while customers also get a
Pegasus edition T-shirt and helmet.
Powering the Royal
Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus is a 499 cc, single-cylinder, four-stroke,
two-valve engine with fuel injection and air-cooling that is capable of
churning out a maximum power of 27.2 bhp at 5,250 rpm along with a peak torque
of 41.3 Nm at 4,000 rpm. The engine is mated to a five-speed gearbox. A disc
brake setup anchors braking force at the front and back while twin gas-charged
rear shock absorbers and telescopic front forks comprise suspension hardware.
The Royal Enfield
Classic 500 Pegasus Edition gets a maroon and blue Pegasus emblem with an
exclusive serial number on the tank, and a 'Made Like a Gun' graphic on the
battery box. It features brown handlebar grips and a leather strap with brass
buckles on the air-filter box, while the headlight bezel, exhaust canister,
wire-spoke wheels, and kickstart lever comes with a matte black finish.
The
logos and insignias on the Pegasus Edition are identical to the original Flying
Flea motorcycle. In India, the Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus Edition costs
INR 2.49 lakh (on the road, Mumbai).
