PT Suzuki Indomobil Sales has released a preview of
what looks like a new motorcycle that will debut at the GIIAS 2018 (scheduled
from 02-12 August). According to Indonesian media, the new bike is the Suzuki
Bandit 150 that will make its world premiere at the Indonesian Motor Show.
Suzuki will position the Bandit 150 below the Suzuki
GSX-S150 naked Streetfighter in the Indonesian market. The Bandit 150 is aimed at
increasing Suzuki’s market share in Indonesia and take competition away from
rivals Honda CB150 SF and Yamaha V-Ixion.
The company will reportedly showcase the Suzuki
Bandit 150 alongside the Suzuki Burgman Street maxi-scooter at the GIIAS 2018.
The Suzuki Bandit 150 will be only on display, with sales set to start later
this year. The company is likely to position the motorcycle as a premium
commuter, while the bike will share its chassis with the Suzuki GSX-S150. As
compared to the naked roadster, the Bandit 150 will feature a single-piece seat
and a slightly lowered tail section, while the bike will get a new instrument
cluster.
Powering the Suzuki Bandit 150 is a Suzuki GSX S-150
sourced 147.3 cc engine. The single-cylinder, fuel injected, liquid cooled
motor is tuned to produce a maximum power of 19 bhp at 11,000 rpm while
developing 13.9 Nm of peak torque at 8,500 rpm on the Suzuki GSX S-150, mated
to a 6-speed transmission. Suzuki is likely to retune the engine to produce
linear power delivery.
Telescopic front forks and an adjustable rear
mono-shock will perform suspension duties on the Suzuki Bandit 150. Braking
power will come from disc brakes at both the ends, while it remains to be seen
if Suzuki offers ABS. According to spy media, the motorcycle features an upright riding
position with the help of wide handlebar and centre set foot pegs, while the
bike gets an engine belly cover to add to the aesthetics.
