PT Suzuki Indomobil Motor has pulled the wraps off
the Suzuki Ignis Sport at the 2018 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show
(GIIAS) in Jakarta, Indonesia. Designed on the Suzuki Ignis, the Sport is
essentially a new modified version of the standard Ignis mini SUV. The company
said that the Suzuki Ignis Sport has been designed in response of customers’
need of safe and comfortable vehicles.
The Suzuki Ignis Sport gets interesting aesthetic
changes over the regular model, and looks more refreshing and sportier. The
variant features LED projector headlamps along with the contrasting red skid
plate and side strip. The regular front grille with chrome finish has been
replaced by LED DRL bar. The mini SUV’s sporty version comes fitted with the
black alloy wheels. The rear spoiler gets sporty red finish further enhancing
its sporty appearance.
Inside, the Suzuki Ignis Sport gets all black finish
instead of dual-tone finish. Based on the top-spec variant, the new model comes
loaded with several features including a touchscreen infotainment system with
smartphone connectivity, audio system, special upholstery for seats, dashboard
and door pad, push button start, key less entry, climate control, etc. However,
its devoid of some fitments.
For people not in the know, PT Suzuki Indomobil
Motor already retails the Ignis Sport in two variants – GL SE MT and GL SE AT –
priced at IDR 154,500,000 and IDR 164,500,000 respectively. Though, it looks
different from the new Ignis Sport concept. It features black front bumper with
silver skid plate, side skirts, rear spoiler and a rear skid plate. The car
comes in four colour schemes – Tinsel Blue Pearl, Uptown Red Pearl, Arctic
White Pearl and Midnight Black Pearl. Inside, it gets body color ornament,
7-inch audio touchscreen and stylish seat cover.
In Indonesia, the Suzuki Ignis comes with a
1.2-litre, four-cylinder, K-series petrol motor that’s good enough for 82 hp
and of torque. The mini SUV comes with both a 5-speed manual (GL and GX)
and a 5-speed AGS (GX only). The same powertrain has been fitted to the Suzuki
Ignis Sport. The Indonesian market gets the Made-in-India Ignis, therefore the
company might consider the Ignis Sport Edition for the Indian market.
