Suzuki Indonesia unveiled the Ignis Suzuki Sport and
Baleno Suzuki Sport at GIIAS 2018 on August 2.
Suzuki Sport is a new variant aimed at making its
cars more desirable to young Indonesian customers who want a sporty, stylish
and exclusive model. It’s still at a conceptual stage, and the finishing
touches will be based on what the feedback from the show-goer is.
The Ignis Suzuki Sport is based on the Suzuki Ignis
Sport edition. It features a body kit consisting of front, side and rear
underbody spoilers and a rear roof spoiler. This body kit, as well as the LED
DRLs on the grille, are from the Sport edition that is already on sale. The
difference between the two is the yellow finish on the underbody spoilers,
yellow/purple decals and the Suzuki Sport branding on the hood and the sides.
Inside, the concept model features Suzuki Sport branded seats with white
stitching.
The Indonesian-spec Suzuki Ignis/Suzuki Ignis Sport
Edition use the K12M 1.2-litre petrol engine that produces 83 PS at 6,000 rpm
and 113 Nm of torque at 4,200 rpm. A 5-speed manual transmission or the 5-speed
AGS automated manual transmission sends power to the wheels.
The Baleno Suzuki Sport’s main highlight is the
five-double-spoke alloy wheels made by JF Luxury, a local aftermarket wheel
maker. The underbody spoilers are already offered in the standard Baleno, but
in the concept they are in the striking red colour for a sportier look. Other
exterior features include Suzuki Sport branding on the sides and the hood in
red colour and body side moulding. Inside, the concept model has seats with
Suzuki Sport branding in red (front-only) and red stitching.
The Indonesian-spec Suzuki Baleno employs the K14B
1.4-litre petrol engine that develops 92.4 PS at 6,000 rpm and 130 Nm of torque
at 4,200 rpm. 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic are the transmission
choices.
