Suzuki revealed the Ertiga Sport concept at the
ongoing Indonesia International Motor Show of 2018. Here are some new pictures
from the show floor that reveal everything about the sportier variant of the MPV,
whose regular version will soon be launched in India.
As indicated by the images, the Suzuki Ertiga Sport
gets a custom brown paint job, taller alloy wheels, low profile tyres, and a
body kit that includes bumper inserts at the front and rear, and side skirts on
the flanks. Other stylistic changes include blacked-out headlamps and a new
mesh grille. The MPV sits lower to the floor, which means that it could be
running lower springs. However, the 1.5 litre K-Series petrol engine hasn’t
been tweaked for more performance.
It continues to run a 106 PS-138 Nm state of tune,
and is offered with 5 speed manual and 4 speed automatic gearbox options. For
the Indian market, Maruti Suzuki will continue to offer the 1.3 litre Fiat
Multijet turbocharged diesel engine with 90 PS-200 Nm outputs.
A 5 speed manual gearbox will be standard although
we won’t be surprised if Maruti throws in the AMT option for the diesel. In
fact, such a combination is already offered on the Vitara Brezza compact SUV,
which mean that it could be a straight fit onto the new Ertiga as well.
Notably, Indonesia was the first market in the world
to receive the second generation Suzuki Ertiga MPV, and India is likely to be
the second market. The all-new Ertiga is larger, lighter and more powerful.
It’s based on the HEARTECT platform that it shares with the likes of the Maruti
Swift, Baleno and Dzire.
