Autocar India has posted the first interior spy shot of the Tata X451 (codename) premium hatchback. The image shows a multi-function steering wheel and an instrument cluster with white backlight for fonts, which follows the guidelines of Tata's new-age products like the Nexon and Tiago. Wat catches the eye is the large, free-standing touchscreen display, which appears a size larger than the Nexon's (which gets a 6.5-inch unit). The larger display should be available with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay aside from GPS navigation.

Though the dashboard sports an all-black theme, the report mentions there could be another colour option at launch. Even with an all-black theme, we can make out the piano-black inserts for the AC vents and centre console.

On the design front, the X451 will take inspiration from the Tata 45X concept which was shown at this year's Auto Expo and Geneva Motor Show. The premium hatchback will be the first member on the ALFA (Agile Light Flexible Advanced Architecture) platform, which will later spawn a mid-size sedan (Tata X445 codename), and possibly a sedan crossover too, which is exercising the company's strategy of creating new segments.

The market launch of the X451 is expected in the festive season period of 2019 (approximately same time next year). Autocar reports that at launch, the X451 will be available with more powerful iterations of the 1.2-liter turbocharged petrol and the 1.5-liter diesel found on the Tata Nexon. Gearbox options will include a 6-speed manual and a twin-clutch automatic which could be sourced from a vendor, or manufactured under a licensing deal.
