BMW has shown off the X2 M35i sports activity coupe
or SAC. This ride has a couple firsts for BMW. The main first is the fitting of
the most powerful 2.0L TwinPower Turbo engine BMW has ever offered. That engine
is a 2.0L TwinPower turbo unit that makes 302 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque.
To coax that much power out of the four, BMW had to
strengthen the crankshaft, reducing the compression ratio with new pistons, and
enlarge the main bearings. BMW also fits its first front axle M Sport limited
slip differential to the X2 M35i.
The car is good for 0-60 mph in 4.9 seconds and will
enter production in November for the US market. Pricing is a mystery for now
and buyers will be able to select options like M Sport seats in red leather
with more support than the normal sport seats in the X2 offer. Pricing will be
announced closer to launch.
