Fiat Chrysler Automobiles dropped details about a handful of 2019 models today and the latest is the Compass. Since the crossover was launched in early 2017, this year’s updates are relatively minor and include a newly standard 7-inch Uconnect infotainment system as well as a Sting Grey paint job. The Compass Trailhawk receives restyled 17-inch alloy wheels, while the Advanced Safety Group package has been expanded to include adaptive cruise control.

Lastly, there’s a new Premium Lighting Group which is available on the Compass Latitude, Limited and Trailhawk. It includes bi-xenon high-intensity discharge headlights, LED daytime running lights and LED taillights.

While the updates aren’t terribly exciting, Jeep is also offering a new special edition called the Upland. Available on the entry-level Compass Sport, the Upland package effectively turns the model into a clone of the more expensive Compass Trailhawk.

While the special edition misses out of the off-road focused upgrades, the model does come equipped with a Trailhawk front fascia, a gloss black grille and 17-inch alloy wheels which are sourced from its more expensive counterpart. Other exterior updates include a gloss black roof, matte black tow hooks, a front skid plate and a bright exhaust tip.

Interior changes are extremely limited, but the special edition comes with silver anodized accents and all-weather mats which are shared with the Trailhawk. Other features, which aren’t unique to the model, include a dual-zone automatic climate control system and a six-speaker audio system.

Buyers looking for a little more luxury can order the Compass Limited with the new High Altitude Appearance Package. It features satin gloss granite accents, a gloss black roof and tinted rear windows. The package also adds the Premium Lighting Group and 19-inch wheels with a satin gloss granite finish.

The interior receives some minor updates as well with the biggest being an 8.4-inch Uconnect infotainment system with GPS navigation. Other special touches include anodized gunmetal trim and tungsten contrast stitching.

Under the hood, the 2019 Jeep Compass has a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 180 hp and 237 Nm of torque. It can be connected to either a six-speed manual or a nine-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, while four-wheel drive is optional.
