We’ve lost count of how many times Skoda has teased
the Kodiaq RS so far but we’ll let that pass given that the automaker has
finally given us the first overall peek at the performance SUV’s design. These are the first two official sketches
that show the upcoming model in its entirety. Now, all renderings are meant to exaggerate a car’s strong points, and
we’re sure these do too. The Kodiaq RS may feature 20-inch alloy wheels as
standard, but be sure they won’t look as big as in the renderings.
Skoda’s first RS-badged SUV surely appears dynamic
and aggressive, though. The front end is dominated by the wide, 3D-effect
radiator grille in gloss black, the sporty new bumper exclusive to the Kodiaq
RS, and the crystalline-look, full-LED headlights that will be a standard
feature.
The rear view is no less impressive thanks to the
muscular bumper that integrates two massive tailpipes, the reflector that
extends across the entire width of the vehicle, and the roof spoiler that
continues down the D-pillars.
Viewed from the side, the exaggerated 20-inch Xtreme
wheels in a phone-dial design and anthracite hue capture all the attention,
while details like the black-painted window frames, mirror caps, and roof rails
add an interesting contrast to the Kodiaq RS’ exclusive Race Blue paint finish.
The 17-inch red brake calipers are also hard to ignore.
The Skoda Kodiaq RS will debut in the metal in early
October at the Paris Auto Show with a 240 PS 2.0-liter bi-turbo diesel
engine — the most powerful production diesel unit in Skoda history.
