Aston Martin will celebrate the centenary of Zagato
by producing two limited-run models, officially dubbed the DB4 GT Zagato
Continuation and the DBS GT Zagato. These two models form what Aston Martin
dubs the DBZ Zagato Collection and will be limited to just 19 units each.
However, they won’t be separately. Instead, buyers will have to purchase both
the track-only DB4 GT Zagato Continuation and the road-legal DBS GT Zagato as a
pair. Doing so will cost £ 6 million (US$ 7.89 million) plus local taxes.
Production of the DB4 GT Zagato Continuation will be
handed by Aston Martin Works while the DBS GT Zagato will come to life at the
British marque’s Gaydon headquarters. The Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato
was first created in the 1960’s. Just 19 examples of the original were built
and the Continuation model will follow the same recipe and come fitted with
thin-gauge aluminum body panels and a lightweight tubular frame. Expert
craftsmen will ensure the new DB4 GT Zagatos are identical to the original and
fit each with a straight-six engine delivering 380 hp to the rear wheels
through a four-speed manual transmission and limited-slip differential.
The new DBS GT Zagato is based around the
recently-introduced DBS Superleggera and will get a unique Zagato-designed
body, complete with a double-bubble roof. It’s expected to have identical
mechanical parts to the DBS Superleggera.
First deliveries of the Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato
Continuation have been pencilled in for the fourth quarter of 2019 while the
DBS GT Zagato will arrive in customer hands exactly 12 months later.
