With the festive season around the corner, Bajaj Auto has announced the twin disc variant of the NS160 through its social media channels. A photograph of the new Bajaj Pulsar NS160 with rear disc brake was published on the Bajaj Pulsar Facebook page. There is no mention of ABS on the new motorcycle.

Along with the addition of a disc brake at the rear, Bajaj has announced that the 17-inch alloy wheels on the new NS160 will come wrapped in wider tires. Apart from the upgrades above, there are no changes to the motorcycle. The NS160 variant continues to feature its NS200 inspired muscular styling, a perimeter frame, 12-litre fuel tank, dual tone paint, body-coloured engine under-cowl and an underbelly exhaust.

Existing owners of the Bajaj Pulsar NS160 can also install the rear disc on their motorcycles. Bajaj Auto suggests visiting the nearest dealership for further assistance. Technical specifications continue to feature a 160.3 cc, 4 - stroke, SOHC 4-Valve, Oil Cooled, DTS-i engine which is tuned to deliver 15.5 PS of maximum power @ 8500 and 14.6 Nm of peak torque @ 6500 rpm. The engine is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Anchoring duties are performed by a 240 mm disc upfront, which is now joined by an optional rear disc. Buyers can still buy the drum brake equipped model for INR 82,624 (ex-showroom Delhi).

Suspension duties are performed by a conventional telescopic front fork with Anti-friction Bush while at the rear is a Nitrox mono shock absorber with Canister. The motorcycle competes against the TVS Apache RTR160 4V, Yamaha FZ-S and the Suzuki Gixxer 155, all of which already get the optional rear disc brake. With the festive season here, the added rear disc brake will help Bajaj in clocking better sales numbers as it sees those customers switching over.

Bajaj Auto is yet to announce the price of the rear disc brake equipped NS160. With the updated braking system and wider tyres, the new NS160 will carry a marginal premium over the standard model. However, as reported on August 15, the motorcycle could be priced at INR 84,602 (ex-showroom Navi Mumbai).
