BMW will have a host of new cars on display at
the 2018 Paris Auto Show, which starts on October 2, with
the press days, and from October 4 for the public. Among them is the new generation Z4, which already celebrated its online premiere, but
will be in the French capital for its show debut, too.
Developed alongside the new Toyota Supra, the 2019 BMW Z4 differentiates itself from its Japanese
sibling by adopting an open-top body, with a different design, as well as lots
of technologies signed by the German automaker. These include the Operating
System 7.0 and 10.25-inch color displays for the central monitor and digital
instrument cluster.
Sitting at the top of the range is the BMW M
Performance model, baptized Z4 M40i. It features adaptive suspension, variable sport
steering, M Sport brakes, electronically-controlled rear differential and
18-inch wheels shod in high-performance tires. Aided by the six-cylinder inline
engine, which pushes out 340 PS, it sprints to 100 km/h in just 4.6 seconds.
Alongside the BMW Z4, the new 8-Series Coupe will get a taste of the car show in Paris. The luxurious coupe goes against the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe and uses lots
of driving assistance features, connectivity equipment, advanced control &
display gear and others, said to contribute to its “innovative character”.
Available from launch is the M Performance model called
M850i xDrive Coupe, that is powered by a new 530 PS V8 petrol
engine making its debut in the car. Joining the punchy unit is a six-cylinder
inline diesel, rated at 320 PS in the 840d xDrive model.
The fourth generation BMW X5 will sit under the
spotlight at the 2018 Paris Auto Show, featuring an upgraded range of engines,
intelligent all-wheel drive and a raft of chassis systems included in an X
model for the first time.
The all-new SUV uses two-axle air suspension, Integral Active
Steering, Off-Road Package and others, joined by a selection of driving
assistance systems fitted as standard, and the Live Cockpit Professional,
working together with the BMW Operating System 7.0.
Last, but definitely not least, is the BMW M5 Competition, which builds upon the latest-gen super saloon,
adding extra equipment and a punchier version of the twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8
engine, which now delivers 625 PS. The power is channeled to
the AWD system through an eight-speed DCT, allowing the car to sprint to 100
km/h in 3.3 seconds, and to 200 km/h in 10.8 seconds. Contributing to its special stance are the specific exhaust system, bespoke
engine mounting and exclusive 20-inch rims, alongside the ‘Competition’
lettering and others.
