The BMW lineup is expanding as the automaker has
announced an assortment of new model variants for the fall. Starting with the new engine
variants, there will be sDrive20d versions of the X1 and X2. Both will be
powered by a 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder diesel engine that
develops 187 hp. It is connected to an eight-speed automatic
transmission which sends power to the front wheels. This setup enables both
models to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 7.9 seconds.
BMW will also offer a new X2 xDrive18d which
features a less powerful diesel engine with 148 hp. When
paired to the optional eight-speed automatic transmission, the model can run
from 0-100 km/h in 9.4 seconds. While it’s not exactly fast, the
crossover can consume as little as 4.7 L/100km (50 mpg US / 60.1 mpg UK).
While BMW is putting the finishing touches on the
all-new 1-Series, that hasn’t stopped them from developing a new Edition M
Sport Shadow variant. Available in both three- and five-door configurations,
the model replaces the M Sport and features a host of styling changes.
Key highlights include LED headlights with black
accents, a high gloss black grille and tinted taillights. The hatchback also
has black chrome exhaust tips and 18-inch lightweight alloy wheels. Rounding
out the changes are exclusive two-tone sport seats and a BMW Individual
headliner.
Besides the aforementioned engine updates, the X2
receives a new Advantage Plus variant. The model has a slightly revised
exterior with LED head- and fog lights as well as high gloss black shadow line
trim and 18-inch wheels with a ferric grey finish.
Inside, the model comes equipped with front sport
seats, a BMW Individual headliner and high gloss black trim with pearl-effect
chrome accents. The crossover also has additional standard equipment including
an automatic climate control system, park distance control and a power
tailgate.
Lastly, the X2 M Sport and M Sport X can be ordered
with two new options including M sport seats and M seat belts.
