Citroen will preview the upcoming electrified
version of the C5 Aircross SUV at the upcoming Paris Motor Show, along with a new limited edition of the C3
hatchback. The French car maker, which will celebrate its centenary in 2019,
will also have several special vehicles on display, including ‘Art Car’
versions of the E-Mehari and the C3 and the classic 2CV Van and 5 HP.
Citroen says it will offer up to 50 km of
zero-emissions driving, with the SUV able to reach up to 133 km/h in
pure electric mode.
The battery pack is mounted on the floor under the
passenger compartment and can be fully charged in 2 hours with a 32 Amp wall
socket. The combined output of the plug-in hybrid powertrain is rated at 222 hp and features an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Differences between the plug-in hybrid and the rest
of the C5 Aircross’ range are kept to a minimum, with the cabin now featuring
hybrid-specific displays on the instrument cluster and infotainment system.
Citroen expects the new C5 Aircross Plug-In Hybrid
to offer less than 49g/km of CO2 emissions, once it enters production next
year. The brand’s first PHEV model will lead the way for Citroen, which plans
to add an electrified option to 80 percent of its range by 2023 and to 100
percent by 2025.
