Here are the
first spy shots of the upcoming Focus Active Wagon that Ford originally planned
to bring to the United States. As the company announced a few days ago, it won’t do that anymore because
of the U.S.-China trade war. Ford originally planned to bring over the vehicle
from the Asian country but canceled plans because of tariffs imposed on Chinese
imports by the Trump administration.
While it won’t be coming to the U.S., the Focus Active
Wagon will be sold in Europe and China alongside other Focus family members
such as the regular five-door hatch, Active hatch, regular wagon, as well as
upcoming ST and RS hot hatches.
The photos you see are the first that show the Focus
Active Wagon with no camouflage, and we have to admit it doesn’t look half bad.
Design highlights include the plastic cladding, silver skid plates, and 30-mm higher ground clearance. Overall, it has a rugged look and harmonious
proportions. Although we don’t get to see the interior, it should be largely
identical to the Focus Active hatch, meaning the cabin should feature materials
that are more resistant to wear and tear.
The Focus Active Wagon is Ford’s answer to similar
models such as the Skoda Octavia Scout, VW Golf Alltrack and the like. Ford
says the model targets customers who want the best of both worlds: passenger
car comfort and handling combined with the go-anywhere capabilities of SUVs.
