Lexus announced plans to build a luxury yacht
earlier this year and now the company has released renderings of the upcoming
LY 650. Set to become one of the most expensive Lexus models ever created,
the LY 650 follows in the footsteps of the Sport Yacht concept which was
introduced in 2017.
Lexus didn’t say much about the luxury yacht, but it
measures 65′ 5″ (19.96 meters) long and 18′ 8″ (5.72 m) wide. It will be built
by the Marquis-Larson Boat Group which has “extensive experience with bespoke
boat building” and helped to create the original Sport Yacht concept.
Unlike the concept, the production yacht will be
massive and have three different levels. Lexus didn’t release renderings of the
lower level, but said the LY 650 will have three state rooms that can sleep up
to six people. The yacht will also have three different bathrooms.
The main level is ultra-luxurious and images show
the yacht will have leather couches, stylish flooring and a retractable flat
screen television. We can also see a small bar area, a decent-sized kitchen and
a high-tech cockpit with two captain chairs.
Outside, the main deck has wood flooring and three
seating areas at the front of the boat. At the rear, there’s another seating
area and stairs to the upper deck which has a second cockpit as well as a
wraparound couch.
The LY 650 will be offered with two different
Volvo-sourced engines including the IPS 1200 and IPS 1350. Regardless of which
engine is selected, both will be fed by a fuel tank which holds 1,000 gallons
(3,785 liters) of diesel. Lexus didn’t mention launch details this time around, but the company
has previously said U.S. sales will begin in the second half of 2019.
