The G4 Ssangyong Rexton will be sold in India as a
Mahindra model. Speculations abound that the Mahindra Rexton will go on sale
with the 'XUV700' moniker. The mid-size SUV will be equipped with a 2.2-litre
diesel engine that produces a maximum power of 181 PS and a peak torque of 420 Nm.
It's likely to come with a 7-speed automatic transmission and a part-time
four-wheel-drive system. The G4 Rexton is available in more configurations
internationally. However, the same won't be available in India owing to low
volumes.
The Mahindra Rexton will look much like the
Ssangyong G4 Rexton that's sold abroad. The only disparity will be courtesy of
a new grille with a Mahindra badge. The features list of the Mahindra Rexton
will include HID headlights, LED Daytime Running Lamps (DRLs), ventilated
seats, a full leather upholstery, electric sunroof and an 8-inch touchscreen
infotainment unit. Safety features will include an electric parking brake, as
many as nine airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control and more.
The Mahindra Rexton will launch before Diwali this
year as the most expensive SUV in the company's product portfolio. With prices
likely to start around Rs 24 lakh, the new SUV will rival the Toyota Fortuner,
Ford Endeavour, and Isuzu MU-X. Before this model, Mahindra will launch the
Marazzo, by next month. A little later, in January 2019, it will introduce the
S201 sub-4-metre SUV.
