Mahindra & Mahindra has showcased the Treo, a
lithium-ion battery-powered electric three-wheeler, at the ongoing 2018 MOVE
Summit, the Global Mobility Summit organised by NITI Aayog, in New Delhi. The electric three-wheeler will go on sale in both soft top and
hard top variants.
In the words of the manufacturer, the Treo
"represents the next generation of last mile mobility solutions which
offer Telematics technology enabled connected features like remote monitoring
of range, charge status etc." Powering the Mahindra Treo is a brushless DC
motor that draws power from a Lithium-ion battery. The Trio can accommodate
four adults (1 driver + 3 passengers). It has an approximate driving range of
110 km on a full charge.
The electric three-wheeler has a top speed of 45
km/h. Charging the battery pack entirely through a household electrical socket takes
5 hours with a 2 kW charger. Other than the Mahindra Treo electric
three-wheeler, the company also showcased its other future mobility solutions
at the 2018 MOVE summit. These include MESMA, a modular and scalable electric
platform, NEMO, a platform for the software mobility solution, and UDO, a
futuristic muscle electric pod concept.
