Brabus is best
known for creating some of the most powerful and fastest Mercedes-Benz models
on the planet. Its latest project is a little bit different. The tuning company
recently received a request from an owner of the all-new Mercedes-AMG G63 to
have the brutish SUV’s interior re-trimmed in a bright shade of blue. This is
the result.
These images shared
on social media by Brabus show that almost every single square inch of the
G63’s cabin has been bathed in blue upholstery. The seats, for example, are a
combination of blue Alcantara, blue leather, and light blue stitching.
It is a similar
story on the dashboard, which appears to be trimmed exclusively in blue
Alcantara with blue stitching. The same can be said about the pillars,
headliner, door panels, rear seats, steering wheel, and head rests. There’s far
too much Alcantara. Fortunately, some slightly classier blue leather is found
beyond the seats, namely along the transmission tunnel and, well, the floor
mats (yes, it has leather floor mats).
While the interior
has been comprehensive overhauled, it doesn’t seem as though Brabus has messed
with the G63’s internals. Not that it had to. Straight from the factory, the
new G63 comes complete with a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 in place of the 5.5-liter
unit of the previous generation. The new engine pumps out 577 hp and 850 Nm of torque and is mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission, and is
enough to send the G63 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds. The top speed is
limited to 220 km/h, but this can be increased to 240 km/h if you go for the (optional) AMG Driver’s Package.
