Mitsubishi is
celebrating 40 years of truck production by releasing the first teaser image of
the facelifted Triton / L200. Noting the “future of the pickup will soon be
revealed,” the teaser image suggests the upcoming Triton will have a have bold
front fascia that mimics the eX concept.
Styling details are
hard to make out, but the truck has a Dynamic Shield front end with slender
headlights that appear to reside above some pretty sizable lower lighting
units. We can also see an angular front bumper and a significant amount of
chrome trim. The grille itself appears relatively small, but it will have a
prominent Mitsubishi badge in the center. We can also get a glimpse of the
Triton’s wheels and center-mounted antenna.
While the teaser
image isn’t very revealing, previous spy photos have shown styling updates will
primarily be limited to the truck’s front end. However, the Triton appears to
have a new rear bumper and updated taillights.
Since this is just
a facelift, it’s unlikely that the model will have a significantly revised
interior. However, there could be a handful of minor changes including an
updated infotainment system and revised upholstery – among other things.
Engine options also
remain unconfirmed, but the current model offers a handful of petrol and diesel
options. In the United Kingdom, the L200 can be equipped with a 2.4-liter
four-cylinder turbodiesel that has outputs of 151 hp and 380 Nm as well as 178 hp and 430 Nm of
torque. There’s no word on when the updated Triton / L200 will be unveiled, but
Mitsubishi is reportedly skipping the 2018 Paris Motor Show.
