The Opel Grandland X is now available with a new
range-topping four-cylinder engine, and more specifically a 1.6-liter
turbocharged gasoline unit. Sourced from the brand’s new parent company, the PSA Group, the
engine features direct injection and delivers 180 PS at 5,500 rpm and
250 Nm of torque at 1,750 rpm.
Opel says the new PureTech all-aluminum unit has
direct throttle response and helps the Grandland X accelerate from 0 to 100
km/h in 8.0 seconds and reach a top speed of 222 km/h. The
1.6-liter turbo-four is linked as standard to an eight-speed automatic
transmission.
The automaker says the
new unit helps the Grandland X produce low emissions, thanks to an exhaust
after-treatment system that includes a Gasoline Particulate Filter (GPF). As a
result, it meets the future Euro 6d-TEMP emissions standard.
Thanks in part to the start-stop system, the
Grandland X 1.6 Direct Injection Turbo’s combined fuel economy is rated at 5.7
l/100 km (49.5 mpg UK, 41.3 mpg US). The figure is calculated according to the
new WLTP cycle and converted to NEDC for comparison.
Customers will be able to select the new
top-of-the-line engine on the Ultimate trim level, which comes with several
upscale features as standard. Those include 19-inch BiColor alloys,
silver-colored roof rails, premium ergonomic seats, leather trim, Denon sound
system, as well as many driver assistance and infotainment systems.
