Seat is giving us one final look at a Tarraco SUV
test car before it drops the camouflage completely for its official debut on
September 18. The Spanish brand’s new SUV will sit above the Ateca in the range,
offering more interior space and seating for seven passengers, just like its
cousins from Germany and Czech Republic, meaning the VW Tiguan Allspace and the
Skoda Kodiaq respectively.
Seat’s offering appears to adopt a more dynamic
visual character, adopting a sleeker face and a more prominent shoulder line on
the sides. The rear end will feature LED taillights that will be connected via
a light bar.
In the latest teaser, Seat’s head of Predevelopment,
Patents and Innovation Stefan Ilijevic said that “the feeling at the wheel of
the new Seat Tarraco is impressive. It’s very dynamic and makes you feel safe
at the same time”. The car maker also confirmed that boot capacity of the new
Tarraco is set at 760 liters, arguably when the third row of seats isn’t in
use.
Driving off-road will not be a problem with the new
Seat Tarraco as it apparently can handle slopes with up to 70 percent
inclination by braking itself, as well as lateral tilts of up to 85 percent.
Seat will debut two new driving assistance systems with the Tarraco, with
Rollover Assist being one of them.
The driver will get to choose between six driving
modes via a selector dial, depending on the surface, while there’s also an
adaptive suspension option. The engine range is expected to mirror that of its cousins, meaning
1.4-liter and 2.0-liter TSI petrol units, as well as a 2.0-liter TDI diesel,
offered with different power outputs. Seat will unveil the new Tarraco
in Tarragona on September 18, so stay tuned.
