The Skoda
Superb Sportline is on its way to the Indian showrooms this year. Skoda Auto
India has listed the new model on its Indian website and says that it’s “coming
soon”.
The Skoda Superb Sportline is a more fun-to-drive
variant with a “sharpened emotional appearance”. Sportline variants aren’t
brutal like RS variants; their sporty side is more looks than performance.
Specifications of the Indian-spec version aren’t out yet, but to get a fair
idea, here’s what the Euro-spec version offers.
The Skoda Superb Sportline benefits from a sports
chassis that lowers the ride height by 15 mm. Then there are the special
styling fitments, such as a glossy black front grille, window frames, ORVMs,
side strips, diffusor and fifth door spoiler. This particular variant comes
with darkened fog lamps as well. Topping it up are exclusive 18-inch (standard)/19-inch (optional)
alloy wheels and distinctive exhaust pipe end pieces and the 'SportLine' plaquette
on the front wheel arches.
Complementing the sportier exterior are features
like exclusive sports seats, aluminium pedals and a leather sports steering
wheel. Skoda also offers an infotainment system that among other things, offers
a LapTimer function.
The Skoda Superb is available in India with a 180 PS 1.8-litre TSI petrol engine married to a 6-speed manual transmission
or a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission as well as a 170 PS 2.0-litre
TDI diesel engine coupled to a 6-speed DSG automatic transmission. Skoda may
offer its Sportline variant in only the petrol-AT and diesel-AT configurations.
The Skoda Superb Sportline could cost anywhere
between INR 28-32 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Prospective customers can register
their interest on Skoda India’s website.
