TeamBHP member Tushky recorded a video of the upcoming Tata X451 (codename) on test ahead of its market launch expected in the festive season period of 2019. The video, which shows a part of the X451 premium hatchback's interior, highlights the centre console with a high mounted non-colour display, controls for the music system and AC controls below, and a large parcel shelf above the glovebox. The fonts on the instrument cluster have a white highlight which is similar to the Tiago and Nexon. In a previous sighting, the Tata X451 prototype had a large freestanding touchscreen on the dashboard, similar to modern-day Fords, indicating that Tata will indeed take the premium route by offering high-end features.

The X451 will be based on the ALFA modular architecture, which will also see a midsize sedan (codename X445) and if reports are to be believed, a sedan crossover too as the company intends on creating new segments. Power for the X451 will come from the 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre Revotorq diesel engine, albeit with changes to meet BS6 norms. These units will be paired to a 6-speed manual or a dual clutch automatic which could be sourced from a vendor or manufactured in-house by Tata Motors.

The X451 will be priced and positioned to rival the Maruti Baleno, Hyundai i20 and Honda Jazz. Expect prices to start in the vicinity of INR 5.25 lakhs, ex-Showroom for the entry-level petrol variant, and around INR 6.2 lakhs, ex-Showroom, for the base diesel model.
