A few days after Volvo intrigued us all with a
strange teaser promising “The sound of your future ride,” a new teaser has been
released. This one confirms that the Swedish manufacturer has indeed created
some kind of concept. This 13-second clip opens with a preview of the vehicle’s front
fascia, where an illuminated Volvo badge is visible alongside two horizontal
LED lights running in parallel across the width of the front.
The rear of the vehicle is also quite intriguing.
Although we are only shown one side of the rear, we can see an aerodynamic fin
stretching back from the rear window through to the decklid. This fin is
adorned with a single red LED stripe which connects seamlessly to the
taillights. Overall, the shape of the vehicle appears very strange and comes
complete with a high roof. Last but not least, the teaser confirms the name of
the vehicle; 360c.
It remains to be seen where the vehicle’s name is
derived from or exactly why Volvo has created this vehicle. However, it is
reasonable to assume that it is some kind of all-electric concept, probably
with an advanced autonomous driving system. In the video’s description, Volvo
says the following; “Coming soon: our vision for the future of travel. Could
time spent travelling become time well spent? #360c.”
Reading between the lines and judging by the shape
of the concept, we suspect it could be somewhat similar to the Mercedes-Benz F
015, and thus provide us with a glimpse of what cars might look like when there
will be no need for a human operator. A large and spacious cabin is almost an
inevitability.
