UMW Toyota Motor
(UMWT) has teased the arrival of the new Toyota Rush, which is set to make its
launch debut here in Malaysia on October 18. The company also announced that
the registration of interest for the SUV model is now open.
In its latest form,
the seven-seat SUV looks radically different from the outgoing model with a
more aggressive and angular styling approach that incorporates hints of the
Fortuner in the design.
The interior also
undergoes a major overhaul with a more contemporary design that is on par with
the rest of the Rush’s siblings. Highlights include a soft-touch, two-tone
dashboard, USB ports in every seat row, a DVD-AVX infotainment system with a
seven-inch touchscreen and automatic air-conditioning. Keep in mind that this
kit list is based on what is offered in the Indonesian market and could change
for ours.
The improved kit list is complemented by an
enhanced suite of safety features, with six airbags, VSC, ABS, EBD hill start
assist, emergency stop signal and seatbelt indicators for seven seats coming on
all Rush models sold in Indonesia. Also included are LED headlamps (seen in the
teaser image) with LED light guides and LED rear taillights.
Under the bonnet,
the new Rush gets the 2NR 1.5 litre four-cylinder engine (also found in the
Perodua Myvi and the Toyota Avanza). The DOHC Dual VVT-i unit makes 104 PS at
6,000 rpm and 136 Nm of torque at 4,200 rpm, with power going to the rear
wheels (overhauled platform) via a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic.
